“What by the oversized pants of MC Hammer is that?” we hear you cry. Well, as master facial hair sculptor and lady magnet Craig David famously sang “let me fill you in”
At exactly 3pm on Saturday 12 May every one of our 35 branches, from Poole to Aberdeen, will play exactly the same song. While the song is playing you will be asked to taste two wines. We will then ask you which of the wines best matched the music you heard, as the Jackson 5 told you it’s “as simple as do re mi, A B C, 1 2 3”. But why are we doing this? Well, scientific studies have shown that music can enhance the way your wine tastes. You can read all about it in A Sound Manifesto and even explore our Wine & Music Matcher on our website.
So what’s in it for you? Well apart from the free wine, being part of history in the making and seeing our sweet sweet faces, there will also be a chance to win music festival tickets for this summer. Ask in store for more details. If you haven’t cancelled your plans and pitched a tent festival-style outside your nearest Oddbins shop already, what are you waiting for?
With your help this could be the largest number of people drinking the same wine and listening to the same song in multiple locations ever recorded. The song is a secret and will remain a mystery until 3pm on Saturday 12 May, although our staff will probably accept bribes.
